What to Do:
You can actually use just honey to help with your hair, but it can become a sticky mess if you aren’t careful. All you do is add water to help even it out. You’ll want a ¼ cup of fresh water. The objective of the water is to actually thin out the honey to keep from producing too much of a mess. It’s recommended that you only add one tablespoon as a time, though, so it doesn’t get too thin. Then you shampoo with this honey, and let it sit in your hair for about thirty minutes before washing it out. Then wash like normal. You should notice a difference after two to three applications.
Honey and apple cider vinegar can also be used to help your damaged hair and make it a little shinier. For this recipe you’ll need ten tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and another ¼ cup honey. The darker the honey the better. You’ll let this sit in your hair for fifteen minutes before you wash normally. Again, you should see a difference between two to three application, but some people see results in as little as one.
An all-time favorite for most people would be honey and olive oil. Olive oil is known as a conditioner, so combining the two just makes sense to the majority of people. You’ll need a ½ cup of honey for this recipe and a ¼ cup of olive oil. It doesn’t matter what type of olive oil you use. You’ll also let this sit in your hair for about fifteen minutes before washing as you normally would.
Of course, this isn’t the only way to use honey as a natural remedy for hair that seems damaged and unconditioned. There are dozens of recipes out there on how to use honey, and some will work better than others for certain types of hair. You’ll have to find the recipe for you, and remember that hair that is proven to get oily means you wouldn’t want to use an oil with the honey. Most people start with just using honey and water to see if this remedy is right for them.
